Stephenville
Four aircraft at flight level 350 reported a large brightly lit object descending and "breaking up" near Stephenville, one pilot describing it as resembling "a large vehicle" and another as "a space launch vehicle".
The record
The sequence begins with a low-level aircraft on the leg from Goose Bay to Deer Lake reporting an unknown object descending at very high speed directly in front of it, near Stephenville. This had been written as a flight “from Stephenville to Deer Lake”, which inverts it: the CIRVIS report gives the routing as CYHZ to CYDF, and Stephenville is CYJT, where the object was.
Within about ten minutes, four aircraft at FL350 reported a rapidly descending large object emitting bright lights. Pilots could not determine its colour or other specifics beyond its resemblance to a large vehicle.
A Jazz Air crew described something that "resembled a 'space launch vehicle'." The reports were passed to the Canadian National Defence Research and Development branch CANRADDT.
This is one of the few Canadian cases with a contemporaneous, multi-aircraft, instrument-adjacent description rather than a single ground witness - and it sits inside the CIRVIS compilation released for 2010-2019.
